Featuring 13 artists of colour from New Zealand and Cook Islands, including Louie Bretaña and Telly Tuita.
Louie spent four months carving Lakapati, hermaphrodite deity of argriculture, cultivation and fertility. People born intersex in pre-colonial Phillipines were highly celebrated and one of their indigenous gods is hermaphrodite.
Telly is a fabulous artist who painted The Golden Twins are granted an audience with the Green Fairy. The golden twins are based on an important goddess in pre-colonial Tonga, Hikule'o, and the green fairy dazzles in the centre of the painting like Dolly on the stage, with doves flying across the painting symbolising love.
Thursday 2 November open late from 10am to 8pm
